Well here I am about to go again about how liberating EVE Online's gamestyle is to PotBS. If you've ever put up with me over time, you'll have heard a couple passing observations like this in ventrillo.
Yet currently I play this game more actively instead. (I do subscribe to both)
What draws me to EVE is both the depth and totally harsh reality of making a living out of space. By reality, I'm subscribing to the idea of, you lose your ship; you lose everything. If you allow yourself to be scammed into buying cheap re-badged goods, sucks to be you. EVE has a great economy, pro-actively takes action against gold sellers, smiting them into space dust; yet allowing players to buy in game currency in exchange for real world money through other legit players, legally. It's called a PLEX, a pilots license extension, where you pay X amount and you then sell your PLEX for what ever the ingoing market price is at the time. Around 300-350 million ISK last I read.
FLS could learn take a page or three from CCP.
The developer gods at CCP have a brilliant knack of catering to both carebears and their ilk, while satisfying the voices that say kill in my head without overbearing consequences for either play style, so there seems to be not much legitimate whining going on. Oh sure, you'll still get whining everywhere which game you go.
Yet, I play PotBS more at present. For some un-explained reason.
But today, I hit the FLS forums and was incensed at the mindset of the developer gods here which is the catalyst for this bitch. Yes, fling your big piles of poo at me.
The fundamental things that originally drew me to this game about 3 years ago, are slowly fading away as more and more content is brought to the player table. Are FLS perhaps forgetting their ideals, no? Like gold foil emboss that adorns a kings ship, once shone in the sun, now doomed to fade as more and move people brush against the ideals that are being drowned out by the cenceless reasons of the bottom dollar.
It should be fair to say that I don't visit the CCP forums as much as I would like to know what the past and current trends are, so this bitchn' does appear one sided. But saying that, FLS you aren't doing much to make me change my mind.
While there is a leak in your leaky bucket, some features you bring out, (like the new avcom) are in my opinion great. But you just had to shit in the bed I rent when killing off the crew before combat makes bugger all difference. It IS a legitimate game style, stop wrapping your unspoken flaws in cotton candy and passing it off as a virgin hooker. I won't buy into it.
Ya know what wolfpack? If I hadn't met you when I did, I'd have long pissed this game off and not given myself a chance to atleast played this game the way I saw myself wanting to play it back in beta. You my friends, are okay in my books.
