Cuz it's a wellknown fakt that Jimmy Paige is the only living descendent of Lief the Lazy, ye dense Pirate!  Lief was the original composer of the song "Escalator to Valhalla". But then, many many years later, his great great great great great(did I forget great?) Grand-nephew's, second cousin's, God daughter's boyfriend's, little brother's preschool playmate Jimmy got caught up in the whole 1970's aerobics thingy(Thanks alot, Olivia Newton-John ), and rewrote it as "Stairway to Heaven". The song took the music industry by storm, and the Vikings, inherently drawn to taking things by storm, signed a contract with Led Zepplin stating that theirs would be the only music they would plunder to from then on. In exchange for this honour, the members of Zep agreed to pay a pittance of 5 pounds per town sacked in the name of Led Zepplin. The Vikings revelled at the idea of gaining 5 pounds on each raid, as most of the time they returned home skinny and haggard from hauling all of their ill gotten gains back to the Nordic lands  . Now that I have passed the Tale of Lief the Lazy and his miscreant descendents on to you, you will better understand why VR and his cousin go a bit nuts and spill Mjod all over the place when someone cranks up Misty Mountain Hop. |
